A Massive Studio Ghibli Exhibition Has Opened In Tokyo
Beloved animation house Studio Ghibli is getting the retrospective treatment with a new, and freakin' enormous, exhibition called Studio Ghibli Expo: From Nausicaä to Its Latest Film, The Red Turtle. The show has just opened in the Roppongi Hills in Japan, so if you were ever thinking about taking advantage of one of those mad cheap flight sales to Tokyo, now would definitely be the time.
There are over 2,500 individual pieces of memorabilia on display, including rare production art, a 6-metre long replica of the airship from Castle in the Sky, a life-sized and very huggable 3D model of Totoro, and a catbus you can actually fit inside. Dreams do come true!
There's also a whole bunch of never-before-seen art and memorabilia relating to the studio's newest co-production, The Red Turtle, which comes out around the same time that the exhibition closes in September.
Looks like the price of admission would be worth it for the gift-shop alone.
Studio Ghibli Expo: From Nausicaä to Its Latest Film, The Red Turtle is on now until September 11, 2016. For more information, click here.
