Agent Dale Cooper Is Back: Kyle MacLachlan Will Return For 'Twin Peaks' Revival
Just when you'd forgotten the heartbreak of losing a confused Agent Dale Cooper to The Red Room forever he's announced his comeback. Kyle MacLachlan has revealed the most important detail of the upcoming Twin Peaks revival — that he will star in it. All that needs to be confirmed now is Audrey's return and their undeniable love for one another.
Kyle delivered the news in true Dale Cooper style walking on stage to offer Showtime president David Nevins "a damn good cup of coffee" during a Television Critics Association press tour on Monday. This annoucement has been confirmed by David Lynch via Twitter. The auteur is keeping all other details under wraps, which is exactly what you'd expect from the creator of a world so shrouded in mystery.
"I'm very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks," MacLachlan said. "May the forest be with you." And also with you, Kyle.
This is where he left us:
The nine present-day episodes are due out in 2016 and we are sure they will be brimming with the beautiful people, foggy forests and doughnuts that made us want to live inside Twin Peaks in the first place.
Kyle McLachlan has not actually been hanging around in that creepy room since the show finished 25 years ago. We had a look of some of his best, least Dale Coppery, moments that happened beforehand and in the interum.
He was a bad ass in Dune.
Then brought some light to Blue Velvet.
We also saw another side to McLachlan as Charlotte's loving, albeit impotent, husband Trey McDougal in Sex and the City. Trey was totally stuck up, weirdly took baths with his mum in the room and here he awkwardly refers to his penis as a "John Thomas" much to Char Char's dismay.
Then there was his brilliant turn as mayor of Portlandia who pulls off self-assured yet completely clueless amazingly. He also delivers this press conference about his secret reggae band.
2016 will be a good year.
