Boiling Over with Abbey Lee Kershaw

Abbey Lee Kershaw of Chic's been busy - not that we'd need to tell you that. She's been in almost every major overseas magazine recently, including Dazed & Confused and i-D, she's graced Chanel's runway, and these days, the word 'supermodel' is dropped next to her name more and more often. We caught up with the wild Kershaw after a day spent on shoot.

Zac Bayly: Tell us what you're up to today, and where in the world you are?
Abbey Lee Kershaw: I just got home from shooting the Mulberry campaign. I live in Brooklyn, New York. It's raining.

What has been your favourite show to walk this season, and why?
Chanel! I was lucky enough to open wearing an outrageous bear suit standing on water next to a huge ice display that had been shipped to Paris from Sweden.

How do you mentally prepare yourself for a runway walk?
I simply take a few seconds of silence right before I am about to step onto the runway so I have a clear mind. I go to a quiet, lonely place.

I heard you've got a pet lizard. Tell us about him.
Well 'he' happens to be a 'she' named Annie Hall due to her incredibly rare colouring, which resembles the off whites and tan shades of clothing that Annie wears in the movie. I found breeders here in America and had her shipped about seven months ago. My childhood best friend Mr. Micheal Sloman was the reason for my reptile desire.

What's an item rolling about in your luggage that you couldn't live without?
My emergency/temporary passport. One more abducted by the mysterious vortex leading into space that surrounds me and I may be in some deep shit.

What's your most recent purchase, and where did you pick it up?
A Reeses' Peanut Butter Cup from my corner deli. Oh no! I lie. I bought a 6 pack of Go Green toilet rolls after that.

What's your favourite thing in your wardrobe right now?
I don't have a wardrobe, I have a cupboard, and my least favourite thing in it is my oversized useless television box.

What's the outfit you pull on when you just can't be bothered?
Baggy jeans and a long sleeve top that has a picture of an Indian goddess printed on it. Thailand purchase.

What's your favourite band at the moment?
Our Mountain. My partner in crime is the front man, founder and writer. If it weren't for him being my love I would still feel the same. They have a vast range of sounds that take you to places of mystery, places of love and moments of pain, dark skies and bright smiles.

What's next for you?
Something's brewing. I'm not sure exactly what just yet but it's beginning to boil.
