Donatella Versace Reviews Mariah Carey's Album
Double the diva moment.
If you've seen the semi-autobiographical movie Glitter as much as we have, you'll know that Mariah Carey is the five-octave range bearing, tackily dressed second coming of Christ. At least she acts that way. Because divas stick together, Ms Donatella Versace is a friend and fan of the elusive chanteuse and as such, the designer's agreed to write a review of Mariah's new album for Vogue UK. LOL. Props to whoever transcribed that hot mess — it's quite hard to understand anything that Donatella says at the best of times. But transcribe it they did, and now it's online to all to enjoy.
On the subject of Mimi's album, Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse (as it's actually called), Donatella has all kind of cray things to say, for example, "Mariah Carey is such an important part of my life, it feels like I've known her forever." Us too gal!
She continues, "The first time I met her was at one of my fashion shows…[She] is a maverick, a woman who doesn't follow the rules, so I wasn't surprised when she released the album in her own way. With this album, Maria seems to write her own life."
Donatella then goes into a track-by-track breakdown of each song, in which she writes things like, "It is upbeat, and it is fabulous. It's got the feeling of disco that just makes you happy and want to dance. I love it when music has the power to lift your mood," and also "At times her voice is angelic, at times pleading and then, towards the end, it goes into a crescendo reaching amazing heights." Great job reviewing, Don Don! Somebody get that woman a music talk show.
