Jean-Michel Basquiat is a pretty iconic dude, with his impressive back-catalogue spanning the mediums of poetry, drawing, painting, graffiti and music. The guy's domination of New York's 80s art scene has been widely documented, making the news that some never-before-exhibited early works will soon see the light of day pretty bloody huge.

According to Art News, the works — to be displayed at this year's Miami Art Basel — promise to provide an new perspective on the legendary and prolific artist. The exhibition will be curated by Brooklyn's Bishop Gallery and shown at Nobu Hotel in Miami Beach from November 30 through December 4.

Basquiat collaborator, Al Diaz, is curating the collection of paintings, collages, and drawings which were produced at Basquiat mate Lonny Lichtenberg's apartment between 1979 and 1981. So, if you've ever needed a reason to get your spring break on in Miami, this is it.
