Get To Know: Saddest Boy Yung Sherman

Dream musical collab? Lana Del Rey.
Down n out member of Stockholm's Sad Boy crew, Yung Sherman is talked about mostly for his smooth production on Yung Lean's Warlord. He's the one responsible for those Lean tracks that tend to slide over you, rather than thump around.
Back in March, he released his debut EP Innocence after a solid 3 years working on it. He says early EDM, mid '00s southern rap, and ethereal euro dance music shaped the sound. It sounded good to us so we asked him to answer a questionnaire and send through a couple of selfies (note: he sent through one selfie and a few v moody snaps he'd taken of other stuff).

Name: Axel

Nickname:  :)

Star sign: Don’t believe in that

Where did you grow up and where are you living now?
I grew up in Stockholm and i'm still stuck here

What impact have those places had on you/your music?
I guess Stockholm kinda forced me to make music because everything else here sucks, in my opinion.

What were you into in high school?
Not going to high school.

In what ways have you changed since then?
Not much. Lol

If you had to describe your sound in five words, what would you call it?
Pure. Fucking. Fucking. Fucking. Armageddon.

If you could have any animal was a pet, what would you choose?
A shark.

What scares you most?
People I don’t know.

What has it been like to come up in the Sad Boy crew?
Chaos, good chaos.

What impact has that collective had on you musically and as a person?
Pretty much everything. We did everything we wanted to do out of each other’s energies.

Who would your dream musical collab be?
Lana Del Rey.

What's the best thing on YouTube?

Your music is often described as having an "emotional sound", how do you feel about that?
I feel like that might be true.

Can you describe the vibe of your Innocence album in a sentence?
When your panic attack is going away and you think that you actually might be fine but then it comes back out of nowhere much worse.

What things or people were you thinking about while working on the songs?
I love everybody. I hate everybody.

What's your idea of utopia?
Being dead.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
