Japanese Government Launches Sailor Moon STI Campaign

Ily Japan.

Japan has just out Japan-ed itself with a national sexual health campaign that stars anime angel Sailor Moon. The OG Sailor Moon creator, Naoko Takeuchi, has teamed up with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to create posters and packages designed to increase awareness around STI prevention. The smart fellas adapted Sailor Moon's famous catchphrase "In the name of the moon, I will punish you!" to "If you don't get tested, I will punish you!" for the campaign. You're killing us with cuteness, guys.

An official press release for the campiagn outlines plans to distribute 60,000 pink, heart-shaped educational packages around the country. These include flyers and condoms emblazoned with Sailor Moon's sweet face in what's got to be one of the weirdest contraceptive strategies ever carried out by a government organisation.

Keep doing you, Japan!
