JCDC's alien invasion

Fashion entrepreneur Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has extended his avant-garde cult-art empire, staging an invasion along the Oxford and Orchard Street windows of London department store Selfridges. The exhibition, entitled 'An Encounter of the 5th Kind,' depicts the story of an alien invasion, and 8 de Castelbajac's idiosyncratic cartoon scrawlings, this time enmeshed with pop-art references and played off against de Castelbajac's sequinned creations.

The exhibition is the latest in a long line of collaborations for the designer, who's also created stage costumes for M.I.A., Madonna, Beth Ditto and Rihanna, and is currently working on a stained glass creation for Lady Gaga. de Castelbajac's attempts at 'alienation' are keeping us captivated; get swamped by his vision at: Written by Jacinta Mulders.
