Legendary Netherlands Government Counter Trump's Abortion Funding Ban

On Monday it was reported, with much fury, that Trump had signed a global gag rule that means non-governmental organisations that get federal funding have to agree to "neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations."
It has been a reality that no US money is spent on overseas abortions, but this policy goes further. It means, also, that the organisations that receive US family planning assistance are prohibited from using non-US funding to provide abortion services — including info, counselling and referrals.
Within days, Dutch minister Lilianne Ploumen has said that her government would set up "a well-financed fund" that other governments, businesses and charities could donate to. She is staunchly for supporting women "remain in control of their own bodies." Phewf.
Lilianne is someone who is finally aware that banning abortions will not lead to less of them (and why is this a even a goal?). She has said that a band would only lead to "more irresponsible practices in back rooms and more maternal deaths."
"In the Netherlands, I would suggest that there is firm support for the rights of women and girls - and there is a lot of support of promoting, but also protecting those rights." Thank you, sister.
