MBFWA 2013 Studio Visit: Zambesi

A sneak peak inside the NZ label's HQ!

After a two-year hiatus from the runway in Australia, Zambesi have announced they will be presenting their men's and women's SS13/14 collections at MBFWA next week. Known for their monochromatic palette (read: black-on-black) and their innovative approach to layering and draping, they have carved out a dedicated following for their timeless pieces.

We had a look around their studio in NZ and caught up with them before the big day!

Ingrid Kesa: What song describes how you're feeling towards MBFWA?
Elisabeth and Dayne: 'Push the Sky Away' by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

You haven't shown in Australia for a while. Why the decision to now?
We love doing shows and this is perfect timing for us, it's great to be back!

Your studio seems super organised. Are there any specific conditions you need in your environment to produce good work?
We have recently relocated to brand new studio so the spacious and modern environment is inspiring. We have a talented and experienced team behind us — teamwork is imperative in producing a strong collection!

How will you relax after the show?
Celebratory dinner and drinks with the Zambesi team!
