Name: Jang Yoong

Star sign: Gemini

Where's home and what's it like?
Seoul, South Korea. It's the city that never sleeps and doesn't let me alone. :)

How does the vibe of that place factor into your work?
It feels familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Everything changes fast — I like this feeling and try to express on my works.

What were you into in high school?
Taking pictures with my friends, art, Sofia Coppola, Jean-Michel Basquiat... Nothing special, I was an ordinary girl.

In what ways have you changed since then?
Now I'm 22, but nothing's changed. I still love Sofia Coppola and hang out with my friends.

If you had to describe your artistic output in five words, what would you call it?
Sincerity, girlish, dreamy, love, pastel.

If you could stay a certain age forever what would it be?
I will be 23 next year. I think 23 is the perfect age for having fun!

What's your relationship with your subjects, are they mostly friends?
Yes, they're mostly my friends.

What scares you most?
Unrequited love and unrequited friendship.

What is a skill you wish you possessed?
Time warp, I really need this.

You shoot in a lot of abandoned urban spaces, what appeals to you about those locations?
There's no clear reason that I fall in love with these spaces. It's hard to explain the "attractive" thing. I love my city and my friends, there's nothing that I hate in my photos. I only take a picture of things that i like — I like to show everyone that I live pretty cool life in here with friends that I love.

Who else's work do you admire, who are doing cool things atm?
Sofia Coppola, I really love her works, it's killing me... I love Daisy Dream campaign that she directed. I want to work with her someday.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
A photographer (a nice and cool one!).

Will you send us a selfie?
