With a name like Valentina Ruby Sykes you've got to be destined for greatness. We were definitely on to something when we chose the 17-year-old to star in this month's Beauty Daily, seeing as the Aussie model has just made her international debut at Galliano's Paris Fashion Week show and been signed to Next Paris.

After her mother showed photographer Goerges Antoni a picture of Valentina she was promptly signed to Chic. The Dulwich Hill local debuted on Josh Goot's runway in 2011 and has since walked for a handful of leading local labels including Sass & Bide, Ellery and camilla and marc, as well as for Chanel when the famous French house had a show here. She's appeared in the pages of publications from Harpers to Dolly, as well as featuring in campaigns for labels from Sheriff & Cherry to Sportsgirl.

But there's much more than her looks that makes Valentina unique. "It's her piercing blue eyes and 90s grunge meets psychedelic space-babe personal style that makes Valentina so special," her Chic agent Amy Barnett tells Oyster. "She's a total babe with fierce determination, a kind heart, wild creativity and wisdom beyond her years."

Not dissimilar to a certain other Aussie model — Mrs. Orlando Bloom, who Valentina funnily enough bears an uncanny resemblance to — she is a committed vegan and a disciplined Yogi (aka Master of Yoga). After being diagnosed with narcolepsy at 14-years-old and prescribed a lifetime of medication, Valentina went in search of alternate therapies and came across the raw food diet. From eating living foods and practicing yoga and meditation, she has now been medication free for more than a year. She also plans to start a yoga-teaching course in the future. If it guarantees a bod like that, she'll have no trouble finding students!
