#neverforget That Avril Lavigne Once Taught You How To Live

Cause life's like this.

"He was a boy, she was a girl. Can I make it anymore obvious?" No you cannot Avril Lavigne, we understand exactly what you mean. And what's more, we feel you, girl! There was a time when Avril Lavigne had it all — hot pink streaks, flawless eyeliner, ties in every colour, and more ~attitude~ than you could poke a stick at — but it's her wisdom that stays with us to this day.

The girl who replaced the letters "at" with an 8, taught us to always stay true to who you are, and had the best personal brand of any "mainstream" pop star (ahem, pop punk princess) ever, gave us so much to be thankful for. And today, after stumbling across the most solid life advice ever (below) we're going to give a little back.

Avril reminded us that it's totally uncool to say you're cool. So, if someone ever asks you whether you're a punk or not you should always tell them you're "just a rock chick".

Shout out to Hari Nef for 2016-ing the fuck outta that one.

Here's are a few other ways in which Avril's made our lives a little less complicated...

Firstly, she understood that it's important to take big creative risks.

She inspired us to pop down to our local Supré and purchase a tie. A white tie to be specific.

We also made sure to stop in at Surf, Dive 'n' Ski to grab a studded belt while we were down the shops.

And once home, finished off the look with a striped sweatband/arm warmer depending on the number of emotions we'd experienced that day.

She taught us that life was good as "one of the boys".

She was soooo random!

And boy did she know her way around a practical joke.

But she was still a totally relatable girl.

Who'd felt every feeling we had ever, or could ever, feel.

Sometimes she got so weird, she even freaked herself out.

But she was nobody's fool, and her assertions of that fact coincided with our first forays into free verse.
Amirite, ladies?

Un huh, uh huh, that's the way it is.

<3 you boo.
