New Twin Peaks Is Officially Coming To TV
25 years later.
Twin Peaks fans, rejoice! After a quarter of a century wait, the world's best-loved cult series is coming back to TV, with writer/director David Lynch and Mark Frost taking the reigns. The nine-episode limited season will be aired on Showtime in the US, premiering in 2016.
The new episodes will be set in the present day, but will continue along the same trajectory as the original episodes. Will it answer some of the show's decades-old, frustratingly vague riddles? Hope so!
Will FBI Agent Dale Cooper be back? Yes. Yes, he will. As he said on Twitter recently, "Better fire up that percolator and find my black suit :-)"
To quote Dale himself (as Showtime's president did in a statement on the Twin Peaks rebirth, "I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange."
