Runway Report: Child's Play At Peter Pilotto FW15 @ LFW

Game on.

Minimalism? So over it. Peter Pilotto's collection was an exuberant takedown of the less-is-more game that fashion has been playing these last few seasons — and it didn't even rely on 70s boho to do so. Instead, the range was all about this:

And this:

Getting all nostalgic over the days before iPhones and Instagram, Peter Pilotto served up a witty collection inspired by board games like Snakes & Ladders, Ludo and Connect 4. Embellished with intricate patterns and mosaics in cheerful, primary colours, the clothing recalled the aesthetics of childhood without looking childish.

The presentation started with some relatively understated white on white looks, which slowly gave way to more colour and pattern, more embroidery and embellishment, until the collection reached a vibrant crescendo that was more fun than Monopoly on a rainy day.
