Sony Hack Update: Destiny's Child Biopic & Kanye West Film Planned

Plus Channing Tatum's email etiquette.

Beyoncé's dad has reportedly been running around to movie studios saying he wants to make a Destiny's Child biopic. The Daily Beast has been rifling through the recent Sony leak and has discovered December 2013 emails between executives that say Matthew Knowles (Beyoncé's dad) "wants to make the film of Destiny's Child" and went to Sony first. "He's going to Universal next," wrote Clint Culpepper, president of Screen Gems (a division of Sony). "Do we think it would be a successful film? They're on Sony label. I'm just not sure that it's not too soon." Too soon after what? Too soon after she fired him as her manager in 2011?

Fast forward to 2014 and Matthew claiming that the time Solange when HAM on Jay Z in an elevator was actually just "a Jedi mind trick" designed to boost ticket sales. We don't doubt that the force is hella strong in Beyoncé et al., but is it really wise of Matthew Knowles (and of Sony, for that matter) to be considering making a Destiny's Child biopic with none of the actual Destiny's Children involved? The Daily Beast report that the Sony executives all seem very excited about a DC biopic in the now year-old emails but confirm that there is a Destiny's Child biopic set for a Ferurary 2015 release on the Lifetime Network.

Kanye West: The Movie could also soon be a thing and it's actually surprising that it's taken this long. The leak has uncovered an email from August 4 of this year from Kanye's creative assistant Elon Rutberg to Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal mentioning a potential pitch for a feature film:

"I supervise all of Kanye's film and media projects, and we have a major film project coming up that involves both cinematic and technological innovation, so I naturally thought Sony and wanted to reach out. We premiered a multi-screen cinema experience to great response at Cannes 2012, and are looking to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience."

Meanwhile, the most delightful piece of communication uncovered from the leak comprises an email from Channing Tatum to his 22 Jump Street co-star Jonah Hill and Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal. It reads: "F YOU TED !!!! SECOND OF ALLLL TIMMMMME BEEEOTCH!!!! COME ON JUMPSTREETERS WE GOT CATE BLANCHETT WIT DIS BOX OFFICE BITCHES!!!!!!!!" followed by "AAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" times infinity. Can't wait to see Foxcatcher!
