The House From 'The Castle' Faces Demolition
How's the serenity?
The iconic Kerrigan family home is facing demolition after the Moonee Valley City Council voted against pursuing a heritage protection application. Located at three Dagonet Street in Strathmore, the property has been home to Vicki Cosentino for 23 years. The profesh hairdresser plans to sell the land to developers who're keen to build a couple of townhouses. This is kind of perfect when you remember that the house in The Castle was also supposed to be part of a major housing development. Location, location, location!
"It's only a little ramshackle house," Vicki told the ABC in what's potentially one of the most Un-Australian statements ever. While Vicki is happy to leave the pool room and the power lines behind her she's offering to sell the house to die hard Aussie cinema fans. "Put it up in the country somewhere, turn it into a museum," she said. Bidding for the weatherboard dream house starts at $5000.
