The Karl Lagerfeld Quote Book

A collection of amazing musings from fashion's wacky Godfather.

He of unknown age, oddball diet regimes and wack but incomparably prolific fashion whims, Karl Lagerfeld is now the subject of a new book called The World According to Karl: The Wit and Wisdom of Karl Lagerfeld.

TBH, it sounds funny as hell. Edited by Jean-Christophe Napias and illustrated by Sandrine Gulbenkian, it’s an compendium of Karl’s greatest quotes. Considering the man oft speaks words of solid gold (read: an amalgam of 'big man on campus' egotism, brash honesty, wisdom and face-palming short-sightedness), it's unlikely to disappoint.

The book went on sale today here, and we’re getting into the spirit with our own edit of quotes from the kooky mastermind.

His mother would say to him:

"You look like me, but much less nice."

"When I was a child, I never played with other children. I hated them."

"I was never a feminist because I was never ugly enough for that."

"Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants."

"Some people say to me, 'you're too skinny'. But never a skinny person says that to me, only people who could lose a few pounds say that."
