The Pope Tweets About Being Too Connected

Because "if you hoard material possessions, they will rob you of your soul."
And here we were, thinking @pontifex was #based. After previously stating that the internet is a "gift from God," he's gone and done a 180 on us — now claiming that kids these days are wasting all their time online. While addressing 50,000 German altar persons at the Vatican today, JC's main dawg issued a warning against too much world wide web, saying "Maybe many young people waste too many hours on futile things," presumably while wearing a tonne of bling
And while he may be right (he's not), we refuse to take advice from a guy who tweets about being too connected — even if he is something of an OG. As he goes on to say, technological burglars-of-time include "chatting on the Internet or with smartphones, watching TV soap operas, and (using) the products of technological progress, which should simplify and improve the quality of life, but distract attention away from what is really important." You mean spending a total of 16,000 years watching 'Gangnam Style' on YouTube isn't a good use of the human race's time? Who knew
So he's down with social media, but only if used as a "network not of wires but of people." Just like the Pope before him was (kind of) down with condoms, but not unless you're straight, married and preventing the spread of AIDS.
