The 'Scream' TV Show Replaces Scary Phonecalls With Scary Text Messages

Makes us yearn for 1996.

The first trailer for MTV's Scream series has been released and it's full of callbacks to the 1996 horror classic — like self-referential genre comments, a modern version of the Drew Barrymore phone convo (read: a scary SMS), teens being teens and a psycho killer in a mask. It seems to have that Scream recipe down, but we'll have to wait for the June 30 release to find out if the slasher genre can actually work as a TV show. 
The shiny new series got us thinking about the OG Scream and Scream 2 (let's forget about 3 and 4) and how lame and 90s and amazing they were. In case you forgot here's a few great things that the movie had going for it...
