There Will Be No Nudity in the 2013 Pirelli Calendar

Now that's controversial.

Bad news, fellow perverts. Known for its ubiqutious NSFW-ness, the Pirelli calendar for 2013 will be subversive in that it will not feature any nudity.

The first bout of what the fuckery regarding the 2013 Pirelli calendar came in June this year when the photographer was announced. Considering a previous line-up of recent years featuring Terry Richardson, Mario Sorrenti and Karl Lagerfeld, it was a surprise when renowned photojournalist Steve McCurry was assigned the role for 2013. Famous for his 'Afghan Girl' photo (appearing on a National Geographic cover in 1985), Steve seemed an unlikely candidate to snap the traditionally sordid affair.

Additionally, all of the models this year were selected for their outstanding charity work — a then-pregnant Adriana Lima, Isabeli Fontana, Elisa Sednaoui, Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, Liya Kebede, and Karlie Kloss among them. As the calendar's casting director Jennifer Starr told the NY Magazine, it was thought that nudity might "dilute the message" of the girls' humanitarian intentions. An overt display of tit and/or ass might also not bode well with the charities themselves. New York-based model Kyleigh Kuhn, for example, is a social campaigner for women's rights in Afghanistan...

Shot on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the 2013 calendar will feature photos of the clothed models interspersed with portraits of locals and shots of the city's scenery.
