Yellow Dogs Murder In NYC

The indie band loses two members and a friend.

Brooklyn indie-psych outfit and Tehran ex-pats Yellow Dogs have lost 2 of their members overnight — Sourosh Farazmand (guitarist) and Arash Farazmand (drummer). Along with their friend, musician and author Ali Eskandarian, the pair were murdered by a gunman that the New York Times is identifying as 29-year-old Ali Akbar Mohammadi Rafie, and member of The Free Keys, another Iranian band Yellow Dogs had close ties with, but whose relationship dissolved after a disagreement involving money, according to the Yellow Dogs manager, Ali Salehezadeh.

After entering the apartment building of Sourosh and Arash via the roof yesterday, Ali Akbar reportedly shot the two brothers along with a fourth victim (who isn't believed to be a band member) who suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. The shooter then made his way back onto the roof and shot himself. A tragic day for music.
